Ekko & Sidetrack’s Top 5 Gigs This Year

E&S_promopic 1 VPRVIP026_1500
With their latest single on Viper VIP ‘Alone Without You’ and ‘AM PM’ doing the rounds and causing all kinds of dance floor mayhem we caught up with the guys to find out what have been their gig highlights this year…

1- Hospitality (Perth / Melbourne)

As Hospital fans for over 10 years it was a massive honour to play this one. The gig was at Metros City probably one of the best clubs to play at in Australia – when it’s packed to the roof it looks like thunderdome. As well as the vibe in the club being electric we got to pack our bag full of hospital classics and sprinkle them throughout. The icing on the cake was that we got to laugh and be merry with Fred, Grafix and Metrik which lead to some hilarious moments.

2 – Why Not (Bunbury)

Bunbury is a country town about 3 hours out of Perth. We played at what was basically the only club in town and it was absolutely sick. The crowd were so down to party and the people we met were awesome. Can’t wait to go back!

3 – Wilkinson and Brookes Brothers (Perth)

Back at Metro city again, this time playing lead up to Wilkinson. There’s something special about playing your new tunes in front of 1800+ people in your home town. Hearing that bass switch in AMPM and watching the whole crowd react was amazing. All the sets were sick and we were lucky enough to do it all again the next night in Melbourne where, listening to Dan Brookes play a rad set, we realized again why we love drum and bass so much.

4 – AfterLife (Sydney)

Afterlife is a free monthly party in inner Sydney that we were invited to play at by Med School bad man Royalston. It was a pop up rave of sorts, with the promoters bringing their own sound system (which was huge) to a small pub. The room could fit about 150-200 people and people were jammed in right up to the decks. It was an abosulute party in there – Hot, sweaty and loud! The Sydney crew are awesome and certainly know how to party! We found out two days later that gig was the last in that location too so to be part of the finale was extra special.

5 – Client Liason (Perth)

We didn’t play this one, but it’s easily one of the best live gigs we saw this year. It was a 80’s prom themed event and the band was Client Liason – an 80’s inspired pop funk duo from Melbourne. With the costumes on stage and in the crowd, and the big hair nodding in time to the synth and bass it’s the kind of stuff you couldn’t help but dance too. Check them out if you like the Funk.
