As drum & bass continues to make its presence felt in (almost) all corners of the States, there’s no denying that there’s something special bubbling out the West Coast way as a massive crew of like-minded folks are gearing up for three days and nights devoted to electronic music culture in all its forms.
We’re talking about the West Coast Weekender, of course, a 3-day music conference set to take place May 13-15 in sunny San Diego, California. With a series of events, panels, and straight up parties planned for the expected 3000 attendees this weekend, expect a mix of local and global culture coming together all weekend long as names like Friction, Makoto, Aphrodite, Ben Soundscape + Collette Warren, Dara, Atlantic Connection, Quadrant and Iris, and Machete, hold it down alongside fam like Genevieve, Mayeski, Gabriel Habit, Konkrete, DJ Contrast, Garva, and the likes of Ridda and J-Tec on the mic.
While crews like Siesta Records, I’ll House You, Soul on Beat, Art of Sound, The Deep End, and more have come together to bring the likes of Miguel Migs, Doc Martin, and Osunlade to the other stages, the love for the massive drum & bass representation falls on the United By Bass / SD Union crews who continue to hold it own for all those who love their breaks crispy and bass down low.
Big up to the West Coast and all the madness about to go down – and if you haven’t already done so, be sure to lock in your tickets now.
